“Shepherd’s Life” Festival is organized at Roupakia forest on the 1st Sunday of July. The event aims to revive the traditional pastoral life which now tends to disappear and get into the dustbin of history. Every year the local animal farmers are portraying scenes from the traditional pastoral life. They revive the course from the winter quarters to the summer quarters with a feast that takes place within the forest where the traditional scenery is recreated with all the shepherd’s belongings (huts, capes, bells, crooks etc.). Horses carry all the necessary for the feast. Animal farmers make fresh butter and fresh cheese. Roasted lamps, stews and traditional dishes such as kousmar and pies are served. Music with flutes and clarinets also accompany the feast.
