Former Municipality of Nafpaktos is located in the south-eastern part of South Nafpaktia geographical unit. Nafpaktos city is often called “Nymph of the Corinthian Golf” as her “feet” touch the sea. The old city is built within the castle walls on a picturesque verdurous hill. The new city is spread out on both sides of the hill and the castle walls. Archaeological excavations have revealed evidence of human life in Nafpaktos since 3,000 BC.
